A Well-Informed Adolescent (AWA) Initiative

A Well-Informed Adolescent (AWA) Initiative formerly known as Adolescent Reproductive Health and Rights Initiative (ARHRI) was founded in March 2018 and is a registered indigenous NGO with Corporate Affairs Commission with registered number CAC/IT/148555 and Ministryof Women Affairs Cross River State, locatedat Youth Resource Centre Calabar Municipal, Calabar Cross River State.

AWA Initiative is a youth led organization established because of the need to invest appropriately in theoverall development and health of young people through education, health integrated strategy, gender mainstreaming, advocacy and multisectoral approach such as recreational activities to achieve its objectives. The organization has continued to strive towards improving the health and development of this unique population
sub-group.

A generation of young people who haveaccess to information, education, appropriate life skills, resources and opportunities to make informed choices about their sexual reproductive and mental healthand are free fro coercion and violence to be catalysts for positive sustainable changein the world.

 

Our Vision

To provide adequateintegrated and overall development through provision of comprehensive sexuality educationn, integrated sexual reproductive health services to young people, achieve gender equality and sustainable youth leadership through access to education, advocacy, campaign, safe space services, skills
acquisition, peer health education, gender and livelihood programs.
